We are acceping applications for our 2013-2014 scholarship.
2010 to 2011 recipient: (In her words)
Beachrhell is studying engineering:
"Surrounded by a loving and caring family, she learned over the past 17 years of her life the importance of family ties, and engraved in her attitude the values of respect and hard work. Now that she lives in another country, Beachrhell remarks how profoundly her life has been marked by her citizenship. Along with the pride she feels when she talks about her country for being the first one of the Latin America to snatch its independence, she knows that nothing is really given…”
2011 to 2012 recipient:
Esnel is studying medicine:
"For many years, Haiti has suffered from a lack of professionals in all disciplines. In the medical field, this situation has worsened after the earthquake of January 12, 2010. The country is unable to face up to the medical challenges resulting form an increase in the number of patients. Many young Haitian doctors, soon after graduation leave the country seeking better job opportunities or better living conditions. Meanwhile, patients are dying for lack of care. Since my childhood, I have always dreamed of becoming a medical doctor. I believe that God has called me to serve others in that capacity."
2012 to 2013 recipient
Jackson is studying Environmental Sciences: (comments from a visiting professor)
"Jackson was one of the leaders of the neighborhood organization that initiated the seminar series that I participated in. It was clear that he was well-respected by his peers, and that he is highly motivated to execute projects that will benefit his neighborhood and community...Jackson has a great deal of enerty, drive and intelligence, and e has accomplished much despite the chillenges of trying to work and study in Haiti."
